Emergency Training and Disaster
Center
We had our first initial test of our new building on August 9th 2009. We had another major flooding of the Thatcher Brook, the last was in 1998. This one affected more families than any of the past floods. The water came up so fast that the firemen had no chance to do anything but try and help people get out if their homes. One problem we encountered at the new hall was we need a larger backup generator. The command post was set up there and we had to have our electricans bring in a larger generator for a couple of days.
We are currently looking for funding for a larger generator to take care of this problem. If anyone can help in this matter, it would be greatly appreciated. Other than the electrical problem, it worked well as the command center.
We have our 501 (C) 3 non-profit status from the IRS, this paves the way for grant funding and tax deductable gift donations.
Any help that we can get to make this endeavor become a reality would be greatly appreciated.
For more information on the project or to inquire about how to go about donating, please feel free to contact us.
We thank you for your interest in helping.
